米国研修 Day 5
2024年03月14日
研修5日目はニューヨークへ
We had a very busy day and had breakfast before dawn. We were able to see the sun rise over the city from the hotel.
Before going to the United Nations we took a short tour of the city. We stopped at Grand Central Station for photographs, and saw the Imagine memorial for John Lennon in Central Park.
The UN was very busy, as the 68th annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) was being held for International Women's History Month. There were many friendly diplomats who talked to the students. We met one school from the Bahamas called the Akhepran International Academy taking a similar trip to New York. The general assembly was not in session, so the students were able to enter and see the chamber where the 193 member states meet.
After lunch the students were free to shop in the many stores around Times Square.
In the late afternoon we went to the 9-11 memorial, a large underground museum built in the foundation of the fallen towers. The World Trade Center is near the Hudson, and we stopped by the riverbank to see The Statue of Liberty.
In the evening we went to a restaurant called Chef Yu, which cooks authentic Chinese cuisine. Here the students met a Nagano High School alumnus named Takaaki Nakajima and asked questions about life abroad.
Finally, on the way back to the hotel, the bus stopped at Hamilton Park on the Jersey shore to take beautiful night photos of Manhattan.
